Bajrush Mjaku was born in 1952, in Kacanik (Gjurgjedell), Kosovo. He attended the Dramatic Arts at Higher Pedagogical School, The University of Prishtina, Kosovo. Since 1973 is employed at Albanian Theatre in Skopje, where he played more than 120 roles on stage in plays such as “The Bundle” – E. Bond, (1981), “King Lear” – W. Shakespeare (1995), directed by Vladimir Milčin,  “Branch” – K. Casule,(1987) directed by Meto Jovanovski, “Baal” - B. Brecht,(1991) directed by Branko Brezovec, “The Father” – A. Strindberg, (2003), “Uncle Vanya“– A.P. Chekhov (2007) directed by Slobodan Unkovski, Tomorrow we’ll go to paradise” - Teki Dervishi, (2000) directed by Dritëro Kasapi - “Tartuffe”– Moliere, (2008) directed by Rahim Burhan, etc.

Off his home stage, as a guest actor he played at the Theatre of Drama – Skopje, Macedonian National Theatre - Skopje, Theatre Pralipe, Turkish Theatre - Skopje, Alternative Theatre of Prishtina - Prishtina, National Theatre - Prishtina, Interkult - Stockholm, City Theatre – Upsala (Sweden) and in many various independent projects such as: Branch, Skomrahi, Salome, “Five” Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Podgorica and Skopje. National Theatre - Gjakovo, National Theatre of Kosovo, Qatar Theatre Group, Doha – Qatar, “The red”- Orhan Pamuk, directed by Martin Kochovski.

He had many TV and film roles, most notably in “Trieste via Skopje”, “Zoti i vraftë spiunët”, “Peaches of love”, Father’s books”, “Vendetta”, “Agnus Dei”, Mirush”, “Donkeys of the border“, etc.

In the same time, he produced a number of independent theatre projects, like “Golden leaf’s” – Selvinaze Abazi, directed by Dritëro Kasapi, “The open Couple” – Dario Fo, directed by Sulejman Rushiti, “Diary of a Madman” – Gogol, directed by Ivan Popovski.

In 1980, 1990 and 2003/2004 – he holds the position of Artistic manager of Albanian Theatre, Skopje, and he is one of the founders, and manager of production of the Children’s Theater Center, Skopje.

He has participated in all theatre festivals in Macedonia, former Yugoslavia and Europe, like Bergen international theater festival, Bergen (Norway), Mittelfest – Cividale del Friuli, Italy, Pula summer Festival, Pula, Croatia, Days of Culture, Tirana, Albania, Mess International Theater Festival – Sarajevo, BiH, Theatre Meeting, Cankarjev dom – Ljubljana, Slovenia, Vienna Fest Wohen – Vienna, Austria, Bonner Bienale ‘2000 – Bonn, Germany, Festival de Avignon – Avignon, France.

For his exceptional achievements in acting, he received a number of awards, Prize for leading role, Macedonian Theatre Festival “Vojdan Çernodrinski”(1985,1995 and 2004), “13th November Prize” for the role of King Lear, the best actor of the year (1996), “11th October Prize” , highest state award for values in arts (1998), “Kliment Ohridski”, highest state award for extraordinary achievements in culture and arts (1998), etc.ovember Prize” for the role of King Lear, the best actor of the year (1996), “11th October Prize” , highest state award for values in arts (1998), “Kliment Ohridski”, highest state award for extraordinary achievements in culture and arts (1998), etc.
